Let's get a closer look at the ingredients used in this recipe.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl Ingredients:
Fruits. You’ll need frozen strawberries and bananas to achieve the right consistency. You can freeze them yourself, or buy a packaged strawberry-banana mix from your grocery store. Both work equally well.
Yogurt. I prefer using non-dairy yogurts. Coconut, almond, and soy yogurts work really well. You can also use any nut milk, if that’s what you have on hand. I use yogurt because it contains probiotics, which are very beneficial to our health.
Toppings. You can use a variety of toppings, depending on your personal preferences. I like adding some fresh fruits and muesli or granola. Other great toppings include: chia seeds, coconut flakes, nuts, sunflower seeds, and cacao nibs.
How to Make Strawberry Banana Smoothie Bowl
1. Place all of the ingredients into a food processor or a blender. Blend on low, scraping down sides as needed, until the mixture reaches a soft serve consistency.
2. Scoop into the serving bowl(s) and top with fresh banana pieces, strawberries, and a handful of muesli. Enjoy immediately.
Is this Smoothie Bowl Healthy?
Yes! Don’t be intimidated by the amount of sugar in it. The sugars you should be wary of are refined sugars in packaged goods, including packaged sugars. Although fruits do contain sugar, it is a natural sugar, and they also contain vitamins, antioxidants, and trace elements the body needs, unlike refined sugar.
Also, this Smoothie Bowl has probiotics (thanks to the yogurt!), which promote a healthy balance of gut bacteria.
How to Store Leftovers?
My best recommendation is to make as much as you are planning to eat. If you do have leftovers, however, just store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours. It won’t have the same consistency, but it’ll still taste great!
Want More Protein in Your Smoothie Bowl?
Simply add protein powder or a few tablespoons of your favorite nut butter! I suggest using vegan protein powders, since they taste great and are eco friendlier. I use Vegansmart Plant Based Vegan Protein Powder by Naturade.
Sneak in Some Veggies!
This is my go-to smoothie bowl. It’s easy, healthy, and keeps me full. For extra health benefits, sometimes I blend in half an avocado or 1 cup of cauliflower florets. Spinach, kale, and raw beets also make a great addition to this smoothie bowl. You won’t notice the difference in flavor, but you will be eating these superfoods. Win-win!
I hope you enjoy this simple Strawberry Banana Smoothie bowl, friends! Whether you eat it for breakfast, or as a dessert, it’ll satisfy your sugar cravings for the day and keep you healthy and fit!
