Packed with strawberries, banana and avocado, and sweetened with dates and a touch of honey - this Super Energizing Chocolate Smoothie will fill you up and satisfy your chocolate cravings.
Do you have those mornings when you wake up craving something sweet? Wouldn’t it be great if I told you that I have just the recipe you need? And that not only will it satisfy your cravings, but it will also give you an energy boost and it’s super healthy on top of all that? Well, good news! I do have a recipe like that.
This smoothie will serve you as a filling breakfast or it also works great when consumed about 30-60 minutes before the gym or a workout. I personally stopped going to the gym because it takes a lot of time out of my day, but my husband and I are pretty active people. I exercise at home 6 days a week (Jillian Michaels, anybody?) and he rides a bike almost daily. Here is a recent photo.
Isn't he cute? Anyways, back to the smoothie...
I LOVE cocoa powder. I usually pour half of the smoothie into a glass and sprinkle some cocoa powder over it before filling up the glass. It adds an interesting note to the smoothie. You see the chocolaty goodness on the wall of the glass? That’s how I do it!
Did you know that according to Elson Hass’s book “Staying Healthy With Nutrition,” cocoa has antidepressant benefits? Also, cocoa has the ability to boost endorphins, which act as natural “happy” opiates. How great would it be to start your day with this smoothie packed with cocoa, huh?
You are free to use any milk you like in this recipe. I usually prefer almond milk, but soy, coconut or whole milk could be easily used as alternatives.
Just give it a try and it will become your favorite! It's THAT GOOD!

This looks yummy!! My only question that I have, can you recommend a substitute for avocado? I very much dislike them.
Thank you

Hi Kim! You can use some extra banana or strawberries. Or you can skip this ingredient altogether. Thanks for stopping by!
