I am guessing I am not alone in trying to lose a few pounds before summer. As much fun as the winter was, now it is time to get back on track and adopt some healthy habits. Smoothies instead of chips for a snack is the way to go. Do you agree?

Ever since I got my super awesome Ninja Blender I instantly became a smoothie fan. I make smoothies almost daily and never get tired of experimenting with flavors. This Spinach and Cherry Smoothie is something I make repeatedly. The ingredients are simple and they create a wonderful texture and taste. All you need is some frozen cherries, spinach, banana and milk.

What kind of cherries to use in Cherry Spinach Smoothie

Frozen sweet cherries would work best in this recipe. You can find them at large grocery stores in the frozen fruits section. The reason I like frozen cherried the most, is because they will be used instead of ice, to cool down the smoothie and bring maximum flavor.

If you don’t have frozen cherries, substitute them with strawberries; it will work just as well. Feel free to add a touch of honey if you like things on the sweet side. 🙂

What kind of milk to use in Cherry Spinach Smoothie

As for the milk – the choice is yours. I enjoy almond and coconut milk the most, although soy, cashew or regular cow’s milk tastes great too. I've recently tried Macadamia Milk from Thrive Market and it tastes insanely good in smoothies. Which kind of milk do you prefer? Did you try macadamia milk yet?

How to make Cherry Spinach Smoothie?

Just place all the ingredients I mentioned above in a blender (or smoothie cup) and process until smooth.

I like to drink smoothies before lunchtime after my morning workout. It feels so refreshing and filling, so I tend to eat less for lunch. By June I’ve set a goal to lose the 10 lbs I’ve gained through the winter and during the road trip. I’ll make sure to share my results! My strategy is simple: less fried and oily food, more smoothies and more frequent workouts. Stay healthy, friends!

I made mine with pea milk - more protein than nut milks and added chia seeds for a good dose of fat
