Spiralizing is the best way to add more vegetables to your diet. If you haven't tried it yet, use my guide to find a perfect spiralizer and discover the 7 Best Vegetables to Spiralize.

Let me start by saying that I don't follow any diets or food trends. I just try to eat healthy, wholesome meals, and that includes eating as many fruits and vegetables as possible. But once I saw the new trend for Spiralizers online, I just knew that it was something worth trying out—and WOW! Spiralizing almost doubled my vegetable intake. It is truly awesome!
WHAT IS A SPIRALIZER?
A spiralizer is a tool that turns veggies into spiraled, curly, pasta-like strands. With the help of a spiralizer, you can make healthy vegetable "pasta" that is truly delicious. Spiralizers are now made by different brands, and may vary by shapes, amount of blades, and ease of use. While I haven't tested a variety of spiralizers, I have a classic, inexpensive spiralizer that works great. The blades are still sharp, even after heavy use. I bought this Ultimate 7-Blade Vegetable Spiralizer from Amazon. It has over 1,000 5-star reviews, and for a good reason: it is reliable, easy to use, and inexpensive. I recommended this spiralizer to several of my friends, and they are all happy with the purchase. If you already own a spiralizer, I am sending you a high-five!
Once you get your hands on a spiralizer, you'll face the next question...
WHAT VEGETABLES ARE BEST TO SPIRALIZE?
Watch the Demo Video below, and/or scroll down to find out my TOP 7 Favorite Vegetables to Spiralize.
1. Zucchini.
Zucchini is the best vegetable for starting your spiralizing journey. It makes perfect noodles (aka zoodles), and it has a very nice, even shape, which makes it so easy to spiralize.
You don't need to peel the zucchini. Just cut the tips off and start spiralizing (you may also cut it in the middle if you want shorter noodles).
Recipes with Spiralized Zucchini: Quick & Easy Chicken and Zoodles, Garlic Parmesan Zoodles, Zoodles with Chicken Meatballs, Shrimp and Zucchini Noodles, Zucchini Alfredo, Fall Zoodle Salad, Italian Pesto Zoodle Salad and Spinach Parmesan Zucchini Noodles.
2. Cucumbers
Spiralized cucumbers make great salads. You can spiralize any cucumber variety, but keep in mind that European cucumbers are easiest to spiralize. Just wash the cucumbers, cut the tips off, and start spiralizing. If you’re using a long cucumber, cut it in half before spiralizing.
Recipes with Spiralized Cucumber: Sesame Cucumber Spiralized Salad, Spiralized Greek Cucumber Salad, Spiralized Cucumber Salad, Spiralized Cucumber Chicken Waldorf Salad, Strawberry Cucumber Salad and Spiralized Cucumber Salad With Tomatoes And Feta.
3. Butternut Squash
Butternut Squash makes great noodles! It's one of my favorite vegetables. Cut off the bottom part of the butternut squash (where the seeds are located) and reserve for other recipes. Peel the remaining top part and spiralize. Note: while the peel is hard, the inside is comparatively soft, so it won't be hard to spiralize.
Recipes with Spiralized Butternut Squash: Butternut Squash Noodles with Garlic & Lemon, Roasted Spiralized Butternut Squash Noodles, Spiralized Butternut “Pasta” with Mushrooms and Sage, Butternut Squash Carbonara with Broccoli, and Spiralized Butternut Squash Bowls with Harissa Chickpeas + Quinoa.
4. Sweet Potatoes
How about Spiralized Sweet Potato Fries, people? Just wash your sweet potato thoroughly, cut the tips off, and start spiralizing! You can peel the skin, if you prefer. I suggest using the "fettuccine" blade to make Sweet Potato Fries.
Recipes with Spiralized Sweet Potatoes: Spiralized Sweet Potato Fries, Spiralized Sweet Potato Pizza Skillet, Sweet Potato Noodles with Garlic & Kale, Healthy Spiralized Sweet Potato Stir Fry, and Simple Roasted Sweet Potato Noodles.
5. Beets
This healthy and tasty vegetable doesn't get enough credit. We need to eat more beets! Seriously. Spiralized beets are a great way to enjoy this vegetable. To prepare the beets, wash them first. Then, wearing gloves, peel the skin off, cut off the tips, and spiralize.
Recipes with Spiralized Beets: Spiralized Beets with Balsamic-Chive Dressing, Spiralized Sesame Beet Salad, Spiralized Mediterranean Beet Salad, Spiralized Roasted Beet Salad with Quince Vinaigrette, and Frittata with Spiralized Beets and Goat Cheese.
6. Carrots
Carrot noodles are great! They taste great raw and cooked. I have made cooked carrot noodles with seafood, chicken, and a variety of sauces, and it always turns out very tasty. Try choosing large, thick carrots for spiralizing, because thin ones don't work as well.
Recipes with Spiralized Carrots: Flounder with Carrot Noodles, Honey Ginger Garlic Chicken Carrot Noodle Bowls, Asian Sesame Spiralized Carrots, Carrot Noodles with Spicy Thai Peanut Sauce, Spiralized Carrot Pasta with Ginger Lime Peanut Sauce, Stir-fried Carrot Noodles with Chicken, and Asian Carrot Noodles.
7. Potatoes
And finally, let's not forget the good ol' potato. These are great for baking and frying! Wash your potatoes, peel off the skin (or leave it), cut the tips off, and spiralize.
Recipes with Spiralized Potatoes: Spiralized Fried Potatoes, Spiralized Potatoes with Parmesan and Garlic, Spiralized Rosemary Potatoes, Spicy Spiralized Potatoes, Crispy Spiralized Baked Fries, and Spiralized Potato Carbonara.
CONCLUSION:
The spiralizer is an AMAZING tool that helps create so many fun and tasty recipes, and more importantly, it helps to increase vegetable consumption. After owning a spiralizer for a couple of months, I find myself using it more and more (almost daily!), and I have become addicted to my vegetable noodles. My whole family loves spiralized veggies, and my son, Mark, couldn't wait for me to finish photographing because he wanted those noodles so much.
I own this 7-Blade Vegetable Spiralizer from Amazon, and I am very happy with it. If you choose to buy a spiralizer, I salute you, and I can't wait for you to start your spiralizing journey! Stay healthy, my friends!
