Air Fryer Garlic Bread on a plate

I love garlic bread. From the crisp outsides to the fluffy insides, to the delicious toppings, this is a side dish it's hard to get enough of. This Air Fryer Garlic Bread is topped with rich butter, fresh garlic, nutty Parmesan, and herbaceous parsley. It has so much great flavor, and you can pair it with lots of other dishes for a wonderful meal.

This garlic bread can be made soft or crispy, depending on how you like it. The air fryer is a super easy and quick way to make this side dish, and it gives the bread just the right texture. You'll love serving this with soups, pastas, and salads. Let's take a look at what you'll be using to make this tasty Air Fryer Garlic Bread.

    Main Ingredients

    • Bread. Italian bread or French bread.
    • Butter. If using salted butter, skip the extra salt.
    • Garlic. It's best to use fresh garlic, not powdered.
    • Parsley. Fresh is best. Other herbs can also be used, such as a touch of rosemary or thyme.
    • Parmesan. Adds an extra layer of flavor.

How to make Air Fryer Garlic Bread

    1. Cut the bread into ¾-1-inch thick slices. Set aside.

    Crispy vs. soft garlic bread

Garlic bread can be made in two ways: crispy or soft. In the recipe below, I am making the crispy version. However, if you want to make the soft kind, here is what you need to do:

First, slice the baguette like an accordion. Then spread the butter mixture between the slices. Lastly, wrap the bread up in foil, then air fry. This will keep the bread soft inside while infusing garlicky butter flavor into each slice.

    Helpful Tips & Tricks

    • Don't cut the bread too thin. Try to keep the slices between ¾ and 1 inch because any smaller and the air fryer will crisp them up too much and they will resemble a cracker.
    • Soften the butter. It is much easier to mix the ingredients together with softened butter. Just leave it on the counter or microwave it just enough to soften it, not melt it.
    • Preheat the air fryer. To avoid steaming the bread at too low a temperature, preheat the air fryer so it is at 400°F when you put the bread in.
    • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. To get the crispiness you want, make sure you don't overlap or press the bread against each other, or the hot air won't be able to flow as it should.

    Variations to this Recipe

    • Add other seasonings. You can make this with rosemary, thyme, onion powder, or Italian seasoning.
    • Make it vegan. This recipe can be made with softened plant-based butter or with olive oil in place of the butter to make it vegan.
    • Use other breads. You can also use ciabatta, focaccia, or even sliced bread to make this delicious Air Fryer Garlic Bread.
    • Add mozzarella cheese. You can layer on some mozzarella cheese before you air fry the bread slices for a really cheesy dish.

How to Store and Reheat it

You can store this Air Fryer Garlic Bread in an airtight container or wrapped with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Warm it in the microwave if you want it nice and soft, or in the air fryer for a crispier finish.

What to Serve this Air Fryer Garlic Bread with

    • Pasta. Serve this on the side of a plate of Spaghetti with Olive Oil and Garlic, Chicken Penne with Sun-Dried Tomato Sauce, Mushroom Spinach Pasta, or Shrimp Fettuccine with Roasted Pepper Sauce.
    • Vegetables. Pair this Air Fryer Garlic Bread with some Roasted Asparagus, Steamed Broccoli Rabe, Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts, or Garlic Mushrooms.
    • Soup. Serve it with a bowl of soup, like this Hearty Mushroom Soup, Chickpea Noodle Soup, Lentil and Kale Soup, or Turkey Cabbage Soup.
    • Salad. Enjoy a slice of garlic bread with your favorite salad, like this Kale Salad with Quinoa, Refreshing Cucumber Salad, or Avocado Tomato Salad.
